The White Rabbit Story

King Zhou of Shang Dynasty was a tyrant king, and his loyal minister Ji Chang (King Wen of Zhou Dynasty) was imprisoned by King Zhou for seven years. The eldest son of Ji Chang, Bo Yi-Kao, took with him three treasures and ten beauties to King Zhou. Bo Yi-Kao presented a valuable white monkey, which was born with spirituality, could sing many songs and dance on people’s palm. When the white monkey sang, it is so beautiful that King Zhou’s favorite wife, Daji, was so spellbound and revealed her fox tail. The white monkey recognized her as an evil vixen, and thus scratched her.

 

King Zhou was irritated and killed the white monkey, Bo Yi-Kao was killed too and cut into pieces, which was made meat cakes, sent to his father who was forced to eat them up.

King Wen knew that it was Bo Yi-Kao’ s flesh, but he was forced to eat them with great pain. Afterwards, when King Wen escaped from King Zhou’s evil hands, he recalled his beloved son Bo Yi-Kao on his way home. He was very sad when he felt a pain in his stomach. Then he fell down from the coach and spat out three pieces of meat which immediately turned into three rabbits and ran westward.
